A Work-Friendly 'Nad and **Warning Toes**

2:55 PM Posted In , , , , Edit This 3 Comments »
I was going for a sheer look today because my nails were behaving very well lately so I thought I would reward them a bit by showing off with a sheer. Well, Misa No Shrinking Violetta didn't turn out that sheer.
Then I decided to do a 'nad with this little Konad special nail polish that I bought with my first 'nad order. I really don't think this is a real Konad polish and I had no idea when I got it because I never knew what the bottles looked like. I don't even remember where I got it from.

So I used this 'Konad special polish' in pink (I guess I will call it that since there is no name on it) with plate m69 and the image all the way on the left. (The pic below is linked to a great Konad site where you can view all the plates easily, but don't buy there- go to OCNailArt.com and use code contestsandsuch to receive 20% off your order!)

Despite this really not being sheer or the special polish being real, I really like the way this turned out. I don't really have a strict office where I have to watch what color nail polish I wear (heck! I wear jeans and a polo to work!), but for those who can't I think this is a nice option for them.

***WARNING TOES***
Don't say I didn't warn you! :)
I wanted to use ChG Frostbite on my toes, badly, b/c it is soo beautiful! I just can't keep it from chipping on my fingers, so toes is the next option. Then I wanted to 'nad it too. I used SH Insta-Dri Whirlwind White because I heard it was pretty good for 'nadding and I like how it turned out. I used m25 and threw a couple rhinestones on there and it was all goood :)

Would you rock either of these to work or for fun?

NOTD: Orly Cherry Bomb aka Sunkissed, Taillight (Flowers in a Trellis)

8:37 PM Posted In , , , , , Edit This 2 Comments »
So at Sally's Beauty Supply they were having buy 2 Orly treatments and get a polish for free. So I bought Sec 'n Dry and Magnifique.

Sec 'n Dry penetrates and dries all layers of nail polish quickly. I think it was dry within 2 minutes and touchable dry in about 8 more minutes.
Magnifique contains optical brighteners and UV protection for a quick-drying, luminous French with a durable finish. I thought maybe this would illuminate regular nail polish too. I think it did.

For my free nail polish I wanted a nice orangey, summery polish. So I bought Cherry Bomb. I think they were a little off on the name. I would have thought that it should be called something more like Sunkissed or Taillight. Because of it's orangey glow and gold shimmer.

I love this color! I especially like it because this is one coat!

I decided I wanted to do a Koni since I haven't done one in forever. I need to get back to doing them more because it's not looking too hot.

I used the fence looking image on the bottom left. And ChG Solar Power for the stamp. Then I used my dotting tool and created flowers with a black Rhinestone in the middle on my ring fingers and thumbs. I call it Flowers in a Trellis.

Senggigi Enterprises is going out of business :(

I got these e-mail from them:

doing so, discontinue operation of our Online Konad Store. This can be great
news for you as we are discounting all of our in stock products by 40%. Please
be aware that our free shipping policy is now free shipping on purchases of $30
or more.
Orders will be filled in a first come, first served manner until
all inventory is gone. Items have been going fast since we updated the web site.

you more details in a separate email."

I got these 4 for the stars, mostly.

Sing along with me, Ladies!

What would you think if I sang out of tune,

Would you stand up and walk out on me ?

Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song

And I'll try not to sing out of key.

Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends

Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends

Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends

I love this movie! If you haven't seen it yet- you NEED to! I love the Beatles and this movie just makes the music sooo much better!

Brooke, you really helped me out!

But first...
Let's start with the mani that I did last week: Finger Paints Artist's Sapphire. Mary @ Body and Soul did a post on this np brand and I agree with her, I love it!
This is 2 coats with Nailtek II basecoat and Seche topcoat. It went on smoooooooth! All pics are artificial light.

Here it is with Nfu-Oh #65 and Konad plate m36. From reading Brooke's post I really learned a lot. I learned to not SCRAPE too hard. This was something that I always did. All you need is a light scrape. I also learned to work quickly, especially when using the holo Nfu-Oh's. This helped prevent my polish applying stringy. I only got 2 that were a little stringy on the ends, which is a great improvement. I also learned that I need to buy some Konad special polishes! I might be able to get away with it for a little while longer :)

These pics are taken pre-cleanup. I had to apply another coat of Artist's Sapphire b/c it was chipping (I had worn it for about 5 days).

What do y'all think? Does it look better?

KOTD: WnW Black Creme and Konad #71 over Nfu-Oh #63 FAIL???

4:49 PM Posted In , , Edit This 9 Comments »
Idk about this! I keep having so much trouble with Koni's! I used WnW over top of Nfu-Oh #63 pink holo. I started with using Creative VooDoo, but it came out too sheer, which you can kinda see on this next pic. There's a light, faded black underneath this dark black.
The nail that looks the best is the index finger below. Ironically, it was the first nail that I did.
So I decided to use WnW Black Creme. After I stamped the image and I lifted it off the nail, the polish got stringy. Do you know what I mean? Like on the pinky in the above pic. It did not transfer in the middle of the top part of the design b/c it got all stringy and clumpy!

And then, of course, the whole image doesn't transfer! Like the little dots that criss-cross between the bigger dots.
I believe that I read on MUA that WnW black creme is good for Koni's, but I haven't really found a great np brand for Koni's.
I really like this image and I just got a bunch of new Konad IP and I really want them to look great. Some gals at my job said they look awesome and from far away they aren't bad, but just me knowing how bad they are really makes it look bad for me, anyway. (Now I understand the crookedness I will have to work on myself. That I know!)
Any help would be appreciated! Am I being too hard on myself?

NOTD: Blue Sapphire topped with #52, Koni'd with #65

10:44 AM Posted In , , , , , , Edit This 3 Comments »
I got a little bored of my Sephora Blue Sapphire topped with Nfu-Oh #52?! You might be saying 'how could you with all of that flakie, sparkely goodness?' Well I did. So I added some holo koni. # 65 that is! With Konad IP # (will fill this in when I have a look)
It's a Hawaiin-looking flower. Here are the pics, both in some form of artificial light:

What do you think? I'm still getting the hang of koni-ing. It's taking some time...
This is about 3 days after the original painting and it's held up pretty well.

New Camera and Updated Valentine NOTD Pics

8:09 PM Posted In , , Edit This 4 Comments »
I am sooo excited, gals! I picked up my *new* camera from Sears today!! Yay!! Now no more yucky, horrid, disgusting, blurry as he[[ pics!

I ended up getting a Cannon PowerShot SD790 IS. Is 10.o megapixels 3x optical zoom with a digital macro setting! It is awesome!

I thought the np gods were against me today. The bf and I started off by seeing a matiness of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Great movie! But it was hot as he[[ in the theater! I had worn my new Bearclaw boots that were way too lined with fleece. But oo are they comfy!

The next stop was the mall to use up my $200 gift card from Christmas. We headed over to RadioShack and all they had was up to 8.0 megapixels. Then my bf suggested we go to Sears and I hadn't even thought of that! (He's a keeper.) So we headed over there and they had a couple on clearance, but not very good stuff.

Then I started comparing a Nikkon and this Cannon. The Nikkon had the same MP, but a 5x optical zoom. They were both $199. So I tried to get the Nikkon. Well they didn't have it in the store or online or their distribution center! So I started to look at the clearance ones again. A Samsung. I don't know why. This guy didn't seem like he knew what he was talking about.

So we went to FYE and got an Auntie Annie Cinnamon Pretzel and a dutch ice (it was sooo good!) and I mulled it over with the bf. We decided to go back and see if we could talk to another guy there that seemed like he knew more. So we headed back and the more knowledgable guy helped us. I asked him to compare the Nikkon and the Cannon as far as close up pics. He said that Sony and Cannon are the best. So I went with the Cannon! Check out these stunning pics:

Don't mind the streaking on the ring finger...

I think the thumb I did the best on

And here's my fat hand with my pink ring that I got from the bf last Christmas:

Hey, how do you ladies keep the camera so still with one hand? It took a while for me to do, any pointers?

What do you think? Is the Konad an epic fail?
