Friday Night Girls-Night-In Mani & Pedi

9:04 AM Posted In , , , , , Edit This 5 Comments »
So last night my best friend, Emily, and I had a Friday night Girls-Night-In and had a mani/pedi-a-thon with the new Zoyas I got. While we were doing this we had Heathers playing in the background.

Has anyone seen this movie? We rented it because it is a 'cult classic' comedy and we thought it would be good for a laugh. I don't think this should have been in the comedy section at all. It was rather dark.

Anyway, onto the polish!

First up is Pru. A warm pink with gold shimmer. Very beautiful. Below is 2 coats. These pics were taken on the fourth day!

see all that shimmeriness?

artifical light
this one is the best to how it looks IRL

I read somewhere recently that 2 basecoats is better than one, so I am going to start doing that from now on. I used Zoya's a coat each of: ridge filler, anchor, the polish (2 coats), armor, and hurry up drops. This mani lasted to 5 days without looking horrible!

Em liked Pru so much on my nails, she wanted them on hers! So here's her pics. Mind you, they were taken at like midnight last night so the lighting isn't spectacular. (these are all precleanup pics)

blurred to show the shimmeriness!

WARNING TOES!!!
I feel that I have to do that now, just in case some are squimish about toes.

Here's Em toes with 2 coats of Salma. A lovely color!

Here's my mani. Lovely, bright Sienna. This is 3 coats and you can still see the VNL. I think next time I wear this I will do a first coat of a cream orange and top it with this. I think this is a great Halloween color!

Do you like Pru or Sienna? I know Salma has been on a lot of blogs lately b/c it is one of Zoya's newest colors.
How was your Friday night?

A Work-Friendly 'Nad and **Warning Toes**

I was going for a sheer look today because my nails were behaving very well lately so I thought I would reward them a bit by showing off with a sheer. Well, Misa No Shrinking Violetta didn't turn out that sheer.
Then I decided to do a 'nad with this little Konad special nail polish that I bought with my first 'nad order. I really don't think this is a real Konad polish and I had no idea when I got it because I never knew what the bottles looked like. I don't even remember where I got it from.

So I used this 'Konad special polish' in pink (I guess I will call it that since there is no name on it) with plate m69 and the image all the way on the left. (The pic below is linked to a great Konad site where you can view all the plates easily, but don't buy there- go to OCNailArt.com and use code contestsandsuch to receive 20% off your order!)

Despite this really not being sheer or the special polish being real, I really like the way this turned out. I don't really have a strict office where I have to watch what color nail polish I wear (heck! I wear jeans and a polo to work!), but for those who can't I think this is a nice option for them.

***WARNING TOES***
Don't say I didn't warn you! :)
I wanted to use ChG Frostbite on my toes, badly, b/c it is soo beautiful! I just can't keep it from chipping on my fingers, so toes is the next option. Then I wanted to 'nad it too. I used SH Insta-Dri Whirlwind White because I heard it was pretty good for 'nadding and I like how it turned out. I used m25 and threw a couple rhinestones on there and it was all goood :)

Would you rock either of these to work or for fun?

I am finally getting around to wearing OPI Shorts Story that I got from my Ulta Clearance Haul.
I got Shorts Story and Top Coat all in this cute pink shimmer wristlet all for $4.95!

S. Vanessa Hailey from Casual Lavish asked me about this one. And I am really not good at describing colors. I think it's kind of a bubblegum cream. I really did not like this when I first put it on. Ever since I started blogging and checking out other blogs about nail polish, I have really gotten away from the pinks and reds because there are soo many other colors out there. Now that I have had it on for about 2 days I am really starting to like it.

What do you think? Have you checked out your Ulta yet?

Sorry..but not really back :( but here with a gift!

Hey, Ladies. Sorry I haven't been around lately giving you the up-to-date contest news, NOTDs, and commenting on your blogs. I just haven't been myself lately. It's this whole buying a house thing...I'm sooo sick of it!!! My bf and I have been looking for a little over a month and we haven't found anything! I'm soo done with it.

With all that, work is crazy! I want to call off every day! I'm so sick of being dumped on with more and more crap!

Anyways, I'm sorry I haven't been around and I'm really not back. But I do have a little 'present' for you.

Here is my Watermelon mani! I used 2 coats of ChG Strawberry Fields, tippy-tips with ChG Watermelon Rind, and the 'seeds' (I applied with a toothpick) with WnW Black Creme.
please ignore the stringy pointer finger
This thumb was the best, so I thought I would show a couple of pics of it.
Well I hope things have been going better for y'all. Talk to you soon...

Gradation Attempt #1

6:38 PM Posted In , , Edit This 12 Comments »
So I have been meaning to do a gradation ever since I saw these ladies do theirs. You can click the link to be brought to their post.
Decorative Diva
Nail Juice
Nail Art World
Both Nail Juice (Steph) and Decorative Diva's are the same. Which was they used a darker pink on the tips then a light pink for the rest of the nail. Nail Art World (Dreamka) used polish colors that went on sheer and just kept applying coats: one coat on the tips, then half the nail, then the full nail and finished with a topcoat.
I tried Dreamka's way first with Revlon Glimmer Glosses (a pink, a peach, and a purple). These are very sheer and have glitter in them. Dreamka says that polishes with glitter don't work too well, which these didn't. So I didn't take any pics of these. These are labeled sheer, too. I think she meant that the polishes that you use can't be labeled sheer? Not too sure.
So the pics that I have for you are how Steph and Decorative Diva did theirs, except different colors. I used Ulta Flamingo on tips Revlon Glimmer Gloss Strawberry Sizzle on the rest of the nail.
My process was I used NailTek II basecoat, then I applied Flamingo on the tips, then on some nails immediately after I applied Strawberry Sizzle backwards (the opposite way you normally apply polish) on half of the nail. This made it blend better, but it also took some of the color with it, which made it a tiny bit streaky. Unfortunately I only did 2 nails this way :( On the rest of the nails I applied Flamingo on all the tips of an entire hand then applied SS backwards over half the nail.
Then on all fingers I applied another coat of SSe normally. After this I don't know how many more coats I did of SS to get what I have below, but I topped it all off with Seche.

As you can see this looks 'gouge-y' I don't know why?! It really doesn't look like that in real life. Also I should have gone a little lower with the Flamingo b/c you can still see the white of my nails. Another also: it makes my nails look a bit yellow.

What do y'all think?

NOTD for the 1st Day of Spring: HOLO NFU-OH!

5:16 PM Posted In , , Edit This 3 Comments »
Ladies, I give you Nfu-Oh #63!! It is just holo-goodness and a great color to celebrate increasing temperatures!

Let's start with the good and we will work our way to the bad :(

Artificial Light

I felt that artificial light captured the holo the best, but here it is in the sun.

This isn't the bad, but you see my cuticles in the above pic? Well I use lotion constantly, focusing on my cuticles and the dry cuticle skin still returns! I have used Nailtek lotion (which renews everytime it touches water), OPI exfoliating exfoliating cuticle lotion, many different cuticle oils, and I recently started using CND Rejuvenate and Renew (I think that's what they're called); none of these get me anywhere! If anyone has any suggestions please let me know in the comments.
Now onto the bad...

This is taken with sunlight behind my nails, and you can clearly see the dragging effect.
I used Nail Tek II basecoat and 3 coats with a coat of Seche quick dry. Then I did one more coat of #63, which helped cover up the visible dragging and another Seche topcoat.
I felt that I could feel the grittness of the polish as a applied it. Did anyone else feel that or was it just me?
This is my second day of wearing this and I opened a closed full banker boxes all day (and those are very hard to open and close) and I haven't had any chipping!
For the work that I had to do to apply it, I just can't stop looking at my nails!
How do y'all like my new layout?

Local Drugstore Haul!

3:40 PM Posted In , , , , , , , , , Edit This 4 Comments »
Ladies, if you have any local drugstore (no chains) that are nearby, I suggest to check them out! Look what I found for a mere $12!
Lamp Light

(l-r): Revlon Lily Chrome, Wet 'n Wild: Eggplant Frost, Wild Orchid, Caribbean Frost, Sparkled, Heavenly

I found this at my local drugstore called Riley drug. I had totally forgotten about it until I saw a post on MUA, I believe, saying to check out the local ds for great deals!

Idk if you would call this a 'deal' exactly. They were almost all $.99, which the Wet 'n Wilds are everywhere, the Revlon was about $5.

I used to have these chromes, but I remember trying to keep them on w/o chipping was a b*tch! I heard that these chromes are good for Koni's, so I will be trying that one next!

The Eggplant Frost and Wild Orchid are very similiar. But the Wild Orchid has a lot of glitter all throughout.

Not a big fan of greens, but I got Caribbean Frost to put under ChG He's Is Going In Circle from the Kaleidoscope collection.

And the last 2 I can use together and do a French mani with them.

What do you think, Ladies? Are you researching where your local DS are??

Thanks for looking!
